The group owns a number of brands, including Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu and so on. In the first half of this year, sales in Japan totaled 823,595 vehicles, down 32% from a year earlier. This is the first time the Japanese market has experienced a sales decline since 2022, mainly due to the earlier Daihatsu crash test fraud incident led to the suspension of some popular models, coupled with the Prius recall and other reasons, which led to a slump in the Japanese market.
Overseas sales rose 3.1 percent to 4.338,847 units. Toyota Group in North America, Europe and other markets strong trend, but in the Chinese market due to the impact of new energy vehicles and fierce price war, China sales fell 10.8%, only 784,621 units. In Asia, sales totaled 1,464,421 units, down 6 percent from last year.
Although the two major markets were affected and led to a slight decline in sales in the first half of the year, as of June, Toyota Group still ranked first in the global auto group sales in the first half of the year, and its sales volume was much higher than the 4.348 million units of Volkswagen Group.
