Recently, the Passenger Association released the analysis of the national passenger car market in July 2024, and in July, the retail sales of new energy vehicles were 878,000, an increase of 36.9% year-on-year and 2.8% month-on-month. From the perspective of market penetration, the retail penetration rate of domestic new energy vehicles in July was 51.1%, an increase of 15 percentage points from the penetration rate of 36.1% in the same period last year, which is also the first time that the penetration rate of domestic new energy vehicles exceeded that of fuel vehicles.
Specifically, in July, the national passenger car market retail sales of 1.720 million units, down 2.8% year-on-year, down 2.6% month-on-month; From January to July, the cumulative retail sales of 11.556 million units, an increase of 2.3%.
Among them, the retail sales of conventional fuel vehicles in July were 840,000, down 26% year-on-year and 7% month-on-month. From January to July, the retail sales of conventional fuel vehicles were 6.57 million, down 15% year-on-year. From January to July, the retail sales of new energy vehicles were 4.988 million, an increase of 33.7% year-on-year.
Compared with fuel vehicles, the domestic penetration rate of new energy vehicles has been growing steadily. From January to June, the domestic retail penetration rate of new energy vehicles was 32.8%, 35.8%, 41.6%, 43.7%, 47.0% and 48.4%, respectively. In July, the monthly penetration rate of new energy vehicles exceeded 50% for the first time, achieving the reverse of fuel vehicles.
